30 Years of Family Harmony, Faith, and a Christ-Centered Message
For three decades, The Hyssongs have carried their distinctive family sound to churches, concert halls, Gospel music events, radio stations, and audiences across America and beyond. What began as a family singing together has developed into an award-winning Southern Gospel ministry recognized for tight harmony, strong musicianship, and an unmistakably Christ-centered message.
Today, Dell, Susan, Richard, and Kelly Hyssong continue that ministry, combining Southern Gospel vocals, family warmth, and something that immediately distinguishes The Hyssongs from many other groups: brass instrumentation.
Trumpet and trombone have become an important part of the Hyssong sound. Their musical background, combined with distinctive vocal harmony and arrangements, gives the group an identity all its own.
Thirty Years on the Road
The Hyssongs’ story is one of faithfulness and consistency.
The family is celebrating 30 years of ministry, and according to their official biography, they maintain a busy schedule of more than 225 appearances each year throughout the United States and Canada.
Their ministry has taken them from local churches to some of Southern Gospel music’s best-known stages, including the National Quartet Convention, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, and Renfro Valley.
In 2014, The Hyssongs received the Singing News Fan Award for Favorite New Trio, an important milestone in a ministry that has continued to grow in recognition and influence.
A Strong History on Southern Gospel Radio
Radio has played an important part in The Hyssongs’ ministry, and Southern Gospel listeners have embraced their music for years.
Songs including “There Is A God,” “Choose Life,” “Run The Race,” “I Tell Them Jesus,” and “Let The Hallelujahs Ring” have reached the #1 position on the Singing News radio charts.
That is an impressive history, but The Hyssongs aren’t simply relying on songs from the past.
They are still producing music that Southern Gospel listeners are embracing today.
“Good News Savior” Climbs the Singing News Chart
The Hyssongs’ current single, “Good News Savior,” is making its way up the Southern Gospel charts.
On the August 2026 Singing News Top 80, “Good News Savior” stands at:
#45
That current chart appearance adds another chapter to the group’s long history of radio success and demonstrates that, after three decades of ministry, The Hyssongs continue reaching a new generation of Southern Gospel listeners.
And “Good News Savior” is exactly the kind of title that reflects what has remained at the center of their ministry through the years: the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
More Than Entertainment
Awards are encouraging. Chart positions are exciting. Large concerts and national recognition are accomplishments worth celebrating.
But Southern Gospel music has always been about something greater than entertainment.
At its best, this music has a message.
The Hyssongs describe their ministry as carrying a Christ-centered message, and after 30 years on the road, that purpose remains at the heart of what they do.
The harmony matters.
The musicianship matters.
The songs matter.
But ultimately, the Savior they sing about matters most.
For 30 years, The Hyssongs have used their voices, instruments, and opportunities to point people toward Christ, and they continue doing it today.
